Shirley Eikhard reinvented herself as a torchy jazz singer on the surprisingly successful Going Home. Performing a mixture of originals and covers, Eikhard illustrates that she has grown into a lush, rich vocalist. Her phrasing may not be particularly original, but it is assured and confident, in the style of such classic crooners as Peggy Lee.
