EMMA MYLDENBERGER — Emma Myldenberger (1978-2006) Two Version | FLAC (image+.tracks+.cue), lossless

The band Emma Myldenberger from Weinheim an der Bergstraße – situated between the Rhine and the Odenwald – were playing folk music, using a wide choice of – partly medieval – instruments. Comparisons to groups like Ougenweide or Elster Silberflug suggest themselves. They mainly produced German lyrics, some of them Middle High German. The self-titled CD  features all of the tracks of their first LP, taken from the master tapes, plus five bonus tracks: “Colchiques” had been recorded together with the LP, but at that time left unconsidered for a lack of space, and was only later released on the sampler “Folk & Rock” (Stockfisch SF 5018). The four other bonus tracks were recorded at a festival of the vocational school of Weinheim on September 24, 1977. One of them had been released already on the LP “Musik aus dem Odenwald”. GOD

EMMA MYLDENBERGER — Tour De Trance (1979-2006) Two Version | FLAC (image+.tracks+.cue), lossless

Emma Myldenberger is not the name of a person, but a folk band from the Odenwald. Their second LP, “Tour de Trance” from 1979, is similar to their first one: pleasant and skilfully presented folk music played partly on ancient instruments, but not as traditional as Pentangle; rather like Fairport Convention or The Trees. Dag Erik Asbjørnsen: “Music of a tranquil and folky beauty.” And right he is. The two tracks on the first side contain German lyrics, those on the flip side are purely instrumental. Those who like the group’s first LP will not be disappointed by their second one. The masterpiece on the album is the 19-minute long “Regenreigen”. In the booklet, there is again a long retrospective report by Michel Meyer about those days. The accurately recorded bonus tracks were taken from a gig in the Berlin Quartier Latin on April 8th, 1979. GOD

EMMA MYLDENBERGER — Emmaz Live! (1981-2007) Two Version | APE (image+.tracks+.cue), lossless

Here on their third and last release Emma Myldenberger show that they could easily stand their ground also, and particularly well, on stage. The folk group from the Odenwald released their LP ”Emma Myldenberger” in 1978, ”Tour de Trance” in 1979, and shortly before their split in 1981 the cassette ”Emmaz live!” (Transmitter Cassetten 31), all of them recorded with the same line-up and production style. This MC, a regular release in a small edition of exactly 79 copies, is now available as a CD full to the brim with material. It was drawn from the master tape and enriched with three equal(?) bonus tracks. Occasionally with German lyrics sung in harmony but mostly instrumental. This work’s masterpiece is no doubt the”Regenreigen suite” (rain round dance suite), a track of at least 15 minutes. As usual, the group’s enthusiasm can be felt at every moment. GOD
