FRANCIS POULENC : Keyboard Concertos (2004) 5CD Set / APE (image+.cue), lossless
English formations are amazing and incredibly accurate in symphonic and choral music. Richard Hickok is no longer to present, his finesse and his style are exemplary in this music that requires much more than just a performance. In whimsical aspects, Poulenc's music suggests the child, sometimes virginal tenderness. Britten has the same delicacy in "a boy was born” or in some of his “Canticles” or in the following melodies ": The Holy sonnets of John Donne”. “Averum corpus”, “Four motets for a Christmas time” and many other songs by Francis Poulenc also have this height, this modest sensitivity. A very nice box to listen and listen again web
