Nyrvana Pancake were founded in 1970 at Winnenden, a town located close to Stuttgart. They released one of the best German psychedelic singles, nothing else more. After having shortened their name to Pancake, they released three LPs: “Roxy elephant” in 1975, “Out of the ashes” in 1978, and “No illusions” in 1979. Their style, as well as their line-up, often changed. The only one of the line-up who stayed until the end was Walter Negele. Drummer Günther Konopik left after their first LP. He went to Anyone’s Daughter, where he remained for some years. Though on “Roxy elephant” there are no keyboards, one can clearly hear symphonic echoes. The first edition of “Roxy elephant” is traded expensively. Reasonable good priced is, in comparison, the re-issue on Blubber Lips (of 1978) which is more often available. GOD

Pancake from Winnenden near Stuttgart in Suabia emerged from their psychedelic predecessor Nyrvana Pancake in 1974 and now played progressive rock with clear symphonic tendencies. With changing members they released three LPs with self-written tracks, namely “Roxy elephant” from 1975, “Out of the ashes” from 1977, and “No illusions” from 1979. The CD edition of “Out of the ashes” contains one bonus track, recorded live in 1978 in co- operation with the highly talented bassist Klaus Scharff who had come from Siddhartha (LP “Weltschmerz” from 1975) and is producing Die Fantastischen 4 today. While on Pancake’s first album there were to be heard two guitars, one of them was now replaced by keyboards. English vocals, but there are also long instrumental parts in which the five musicians can prove their mastery. GOD

The group from Winnenden near Stuttgart started as Nyrvana Pancake and released a very good psychedelic 7“ single in 1973. In 1974, they shortened their band name into Pancake, and instead of psychedelia they now played symphonic rock. The first Pancake LP, "Roxy elephant", was released in 1975, and the second one, "Out of the ashes", appeared in 1977. The band later veered away from their symphonic style as the people lost interest in this kind of music at the time. Their third and last LP, "No illusions" from the end of 1979, is thus somewhat coarser and tougher than its two predecessors. There was now a female singer for the first time in Pancake's history, in addition to some other changes in line-up. The LP contains exclusively self-written tracks. The CD edition on Garden of Delights includes six bonus tracks. GOD
