XHOL CARAVAN — Electrip (1969-2000) Two Version | FLAC (image+.tracks+.cue), lossless

Xhol Caravan from Wiesbaden were one of the first and most prominent underground bands in Germany. They were part of the students’ movement and at the spearhead of the development towards psychedelic music. Emerging in 1969 as successors of Soul Caravan, they only recorded one 7"-single "Planet Earth" / "So down" (Hansa 14371 AT) and one LP "Electrip" (Hansa 80099 IU), both in the same year of 1969. In 1995, "Electrip" was released on a cheaply produced bootleg CD (Germanofon 941066), but Garden of Delights’ legal re-release contains, for the first time, Xhol Caravan’s complete published works. Next to a detailed band history in English and German, the coloured booklet of 32 pages also includes many photographs and illustrations. After shortening their name to Xhol, the band released two further LPs, both on the legendary Ohr label. GOD

XHOL CARAVAN — Altena 1969 (1969-2006) FLAC (tracks+.cue), lossless

In the time between the recordings and the release of their 7" single, Xhol Caravan from Wiesbaden had a gig in the nice small town of Altena (Sauerland) in 1969. The concert was professionally recorded by the event promoter Heinz Bonsack; the tapes were given to the artists. The sound can hardly be criticized, it was very well done. In order to avoid producing an unwieldy and expensive double CD, some few minutes of the gig were left out. With a full 80 minutes, the CD is packed to its limit. The announcements, given in their original form and length, brilliantly convey the atmosphere of the event. The group’s soul roots – no longer present on “Electrip” – can still be made out in some of this album’s passages. Vocals are playing a dominant role. Core of the gig was the “Freedom opera”, lasting for almost one hour, which can be heard in full length. GOD

XHOL CARAVAN — Hamburg 1969 (2022) FLAC (tracks), lossless

Xhol Caravan from Wiesbaden played an idiosyncratic blend of psychedelia and jazz-rock that was far ahead of its time. They are best known for their legendary LP "Electrip" from 1969. On 24.7.1969, a few weeks before the LP recordings, Xhol Caravan played at the well-known Jazzhouse in the Brandstwiete in Hamburg. The gig was extensively recorded and broadcast by NDR. The CD, which is full to the brim with almost 80 minutes of playing time, was pulled from the station's mother tapes. The sound is accordingly flawless. It is remarkable that keyboarder Öcki von Brevern, who usually only played the organ, sits here exceptionally at a Fender Rhodes piano. GOD
