Eulenspygel from the Swabian mountains were known for their German
lyrics, critical texts which denounce the abuses within their society.
On January 13th 1973 the trouble-makers had a gig at the radio show
“Kleine Nachtmusik” (small serenade) of the WDR. The gig was transmitted
live from the Grober Sendesaal. The CD was thus taken from the master
tapes of the radio station. In the meantime the band had become smaller,
now being five instead of seven. Flute and violin were missing
completely, and the keyboards were used only from time to time. Still,
with two acoustic guitars the sound of their music became much more folk
like. Although this is quite unusual for Eulenspygel, the lyrics didn’t
change at all. Their original version as its English translation can be
found in the CD’s booklet. Also a lot of pictures, cover repros,
discographies, and the band’s history are to be seen.
