As the Liszt series draws to a close we turn once again to the many alternative thoughts which the composer had on so much of his output. Though many pieces here are the initial versions, much of beauty was often discarded in Liszt's later revisions and these pieces are fascinating as a trace of the creative thought process. Of major importance here are what are probably Liszt's last, previously unpublished thoughts on his cycle Historical Hungarian Portraits (this discovery explained in great detail in the booklet notes) and for virtuosity fanciers, the brilliant Clochette Fantasy.
