EMTIDI - Emtidi (1970-2009) WV (image+.cue), lossless

The first LP by Emtidi was issued on a small label and did not indicate that the band would later record an album as unique and wonderful as Saat. Here the duo uses only acoustic instruments and plays traditionally arranged folk songs, which are similar to early Bob Dylan or Donovan songs. The album contains some melodic and melancholic tracks like "Lookin' for People" and "Shadow on Your Face," which deal with yearning and loneliness. In general, the lyrics tell little everyday stories. The weird sound of a kazoo on "Turn Back," the jazzy "Flute Piece," and a song title like "Let the Joint Go Round" are somewhat striking. by Klaus Kehrle
